We'll have honey from my hives at Stanton Park and Del's hives near Lincoln Park. Come taste the honey and sign-up for a raffle. We're giving away one of my large skull candles and a "beekeeping experience" where you suit up and join Del and me as we inspect a hive. |
August 29: Congressional Cemetery Honey Harvest - SOLD OUT!
I keep bees at Congressional Cemetery (behind the stockade fence by the garage if you are familiar with the site). It was a banner year for honey production at the Cemetery! This is a fundraiser to support the work of this historic cemetery. |
September 10: Adventures in Urban Beekeeping
Join me at the Prince William Regional Beekeepers Association meeting where I'll be speaking about my adventures in urban beekeeping. I'll be talking about the special challenges that keeping bees in a densely populated urban environment brings from neighbor management, rooftop beekeeping, security clearances and swarm-catching in rush hour. 7-9 pm at the Manassas Church of the Brethren, 10047 Nokesville Rd. September 28: Common Good City Farm Honey Harvest
I keep the bees for the folks at Common Good City Farm and they've done a great job this year collecting nectar and making honey. You can help join the harvest. November 1-2: Esprit de Noel at Georgetown Visitation in Washington (awaiting confirmation)
This 49th annual Christmas Market is an annual destination and wonderful fundraiser for the Georgetown Visitation community. More than 70 vendors, food trucks, music and community activities will be on hand for this two-day event. Come by and say hello and get your holiday shopping done! The market hours are November 1, 11am - 8pm, November 2, 10am - 4pm. |

September 22: Hyattsville Arts & Ales Festival, Hyattsville MD - This festival is in its 11th year and features more than 100 artists and craftspeople, 10+ food trucks and two musical stages. It was an absolutely fabulous day - great weather, lots of happy people stopping by to say hello and delicious honey tastings. Thanks to friends Rob & Krista and Matt & Jeannette for your support at this event!

October 27: Oaktoberfest, US National Arboretum, Washington DC - I'll be manning the Second Story Honey booth selling honey, beeswax candles and beeswax-infused re-usable fabric food wraps. Oaktoberfest starts with a 5k run and goes from 10am - 4pm Rain or Shine! Come say hello and listen to live bands, tasty food truck offerings and craft vendors from around the region. This is a fundraiser for Friends of the National Arboretum.

December 20: Last Stop Hops & Shop, Baltimore MD - This event is hosted by Charm City Craft Mafia at Peabody Heights Brewery in Baltimore, 5-9pm. More than 20 juried vendors of jewelry, stationery, food, housewares, art and more. Come on down to the brewery to enjoy local brews, delicious food and finish up your last minute holiday shopping!
